Employees within a 90‑minute radius of our Oak Brook, IL headquarters are required to adhere to the company in‑office work guidelines of 4 days per month minimum from 10 am to 2 pm (1 of the 4 days must be a Monday or Friday). This requirement does not apply to support specialist positions.
The Compensation Manager will report to the Head of Total Rewards in the Human Resources department. This role leads the development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs, policies, and procedures. Manages common compensation functions, including survey participation, job evaluation, salary structure development, incentive plan design, pay program administration and other associated initiatives. Directs data collection and analysis processes for market, pay equity, and other compensation studies.
- Develop and implement company‑wide compensation programs, policies and procedures.
- Ensure that base pay, and short‑term incentive pay programs remain competitive and conform to compensation strategy.
- Lead annual merit and mid‑year compensation cycles including system preparation, programmatic communications, employee compensation statements, and HRIS uploads & validation.
- Partner with leadership to design new compensation strategies and training programs.
- Partner closely with Finance to ensure compensation cycles align with annual budgeting.
- Implement and maintain pay structures, grades, and guidelines.
- Advise HRBPs, Talent Acquisition team, and managers on making effective & equitable pay decisions that support employee engagement and comply with compensation policy and budgetary guidelines.
- Design and prepare ad‑hoc compensation and budget reports for management.
- Lead and develop Compensation Analyst in their day‑to‑day work performance.
- Assist with compensation surveys, conduct research and analysis on market competitiveness, pay equity, and compensation trends. Lead the annual market refresh initiatives.
- Assist with role pricing and exemption test reviews for all positions.
- Ensure company compliance with applicable compensation regulations and laws including reporting requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Manages a team of 1 direct report to achieve results.
- Provides regular and timely feedback, sets performance goals, and supports professional growth.
- 7+ years of experience in compensation including sales compensation and incentive plans. Direct experience with market data tool and salary surveys.
- 1 – 3 years supervisory experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, finance, business, or related field.
- Knowledge of key employment laws including federal and state regulations.
- Strong attention to detail, focus on quality, and customer service.
- Analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Superb organizational and project management skills.
- Able to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Proven written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLookup and formulas.
- Consultative skills.
- Infrequent travel.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
$115,000 – $130,000 per year
Compensation & BenefitsThe compensation for this position will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive and bonus opportunities.
