AWCT is looking to hire a Regional HR Manager! This hybrid position offers paid weekly salary, full benefits, and a family atmosphere. We seek a candidate with strong recent Union experience.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPartners with facility leadership to develop and implement HR goals, systems, and processes that support business success.
Recommends and administers policies, procedures, and process improvements to ensure consistency and efficiency across assigned facilities.
Prepares, updates, and communicates associate handbooks, job descriptions, and policy changes.
Collaborates on associate engagement survey follow-up and cultural improvement initiatives.
Keeps management informed of associate issues, trends, and risks that could affect operations.
Conducts HR audits at facilities and staffing agencies to ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Associate Relations & Compliance- Assists in managing workers' compensation claims, working with insurance carriers and state agencies to support recovery and safe return to work.
- Addresses associate concerns and verifies unemployment questionnaires for staff associates.
- Supports facility safety programs by reviewing safety meetings, inspections, and logs, and ensuring timely reporting of incidents.
- Protects company and associate interests by monitoring compliance with labor laws and regulations.
- Manages the AWCT charitable giving program (AWCT Gives Back) and the peer-to-peer recognition program.
- Safeguards confidentiality and demonstrates professionalism in all HR matters.
- Supports collective bargaining and union grievance processes as requested by the VP of Labor Relations & Trucking.
- Communicates policy updates and HR‑related information to associates.
- Supervises and mentors a Recruiter, providing training and development to ensure effective hiring practices.
- Oversees recruiting strategies and staffing plans to attract and retain qualified associates.
- Reviews and approves background checks and pre‑employment screenings.
- Negotiates with temporary labor providers, maintaining records to meet company guidelines and business needs.
- Maintains organization charts, labor hour tracking, and related workforce reports.
- Ensures accuracy and timely submission of facility HR reports.
- Records and tracks associate status changes and other HR transactions.
- Provides support in preparing reports for management and external agencies.
- Works cross‑functionally to address business needs and support company initiatives.
- Responds to inquiries from associates, managers, and candidates, providing excellent service and fostering teamwork.
- Demonstrates initiative, adaptability, and commitment to learning new skills.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- This position follows a hybrid schedule, combining remote work with in‑office presence. The schedule may be adjusted at management's discretion.
- Work is primarily sedentary, with routine walking within and around facilities as needed.
- Regular overnight travel is required, which may involve transportation by car, train, or airplane.
- During travel and facility visits, the role may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and occasional physical environments such as production areas or shuttle transportation.
- Limited exposure to office‑related materials (e.g., copier toner) and facility‑related elements (e.g., gasoline) may occur.
- Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or a related field.
- 5‑8 years of progressive HR experience, including implementing HR programs, supporting organized labor, and coaching management.
- Professional HR certification (PHR/SPHR or SHRM‑CP) preferred.
- Broad HR generalist background with knowledge of employment law, compensation, organizational planning, employee relations, labor relations, and training and development.
- Minimum of five years' experience handling grievances and collaborating with a unionized workforce.
