We’re looking for a top-tier Payroll Manager who wants full accountability, real autonomy, and the trust that comes with owning one of the most critical processes in the business.
If you’re someone who knows payroll inside out — compliance, controls, deadlines, and risk — and you want to run it properly without micromanagement, this role is for you.
The roleYou’ll have end-to-end responsibility for UK (and potentially Ireland) payroll
, working with senior HR and Finance stakeholders to ensure payroll is accurate, compliant, well-controlled, and boring in all the right ways.
This is a fully remote role
, designed for an experienced professional who doesn’t need hand-holding and takes pride in getting payroll right every single time.
- End-to-end ownership of monthly payroll processing
- Managing and optimising payroll bureaus and vendors
- Ensuring full compliance with UK payroll legislation (Ireland a bonus)
- Payroll approvals, reconciliations, and funding coordination
- Acting as the escalation point for payroll issues and queries
- Maintaining strong controls, documentation, and audit readiness
- Driving continuous improvement across payroll processes and systems
- Proven experience as a Payroll Manager / Head of Payroll
- Deep, hands-on knowledge of UK payroll
- Confident managing payroll partners and senior stakeholders
- Detail-obsessed, calm under pressure, and highly reliable
- Comfortable working fully remotely with autonomy and accountability
- Experience in multi-entity or scaling environments is a plus
- £70,000 – £95,000 salary (depending on experience)
