the Role
The People team at Cleo is a performance function. We build the systems, leadership capability, and talent standards that allow the business to scale sustainably and win in highly competitive markets. As we continue to scale globally, international mobility and hiring are becoming a critical enabler of our growth. We’re looking for a Global Mobility Specialist to own and evolve our mobility strategy, ensuring we can hire and move talent across borders smoothly, compliantly, and with a great employee experience.
This role will be based in the UK and will support international mobility across the UK, US, and EU.
- Own and run Cleo’s global mobility and immigration function end‑to‑end, enabling us to hire and move talent across borders smoothly, compliantly, and with a high‑quality employee experience.
- Personally manage visa and immigration processes across key regions (primarily UK, US, and EU), acting as the in‑house subject matter expert and primary point of contact for all immigration matters.
- Advise Talent and hiring managers on the most effective international hiring routes, assessing visa feasibility, timelines, costs, and risks before offers are made.
- Design, implement, and continuously evolve global mobility and immigration policies covering international hiring, relocations, cross‑border remote work, and long‑term mobility frameworks.
- Own sponsorship and immigration compliance responsibilities, including licence management, reporting duties, right‑to‑work frameworks, audit readiness, and record‑keeping.
- Provide clear, empathetic guidance to candidates and employees throughout the visa lifecycle, from initial application through renewals, extensions, and settlement pathways where relevant.
- Partner closely with Legal, Finance, and People Partners to manage the tax, payroll, and employment implications of cross‑border working and relocations.
- Build and maintain scalable mobility operations, documentation, trackers, SLAs, knowledge bases, and reporting, creating structure that supports rapid international growth.
- Monitor immigration law and policy changes across relevant jurisdictions and proactively update internal guidance, processes, and leadership on risks or opportunities.
- Use data to track visa timelines, approval rates, costs, and renewal cycles, identifying risks early and improving workforce planning and hiring agility.
- Support expansion into new countries by assessing immigration feasibility and helping design compliant and sustainable hiring approaches.
- Educate and up‑skill internal stakeholders (Talent, hiring managers, People team) on immigration processes, realistic timelines, and compliance responsibilities.
- You have 4+ years of hands‑on experience in immigration and global mobility, with deep practical knowledge rather than purely vendor‑managed exposure.
- You have strong, working expertise in UK immigration and sponsorship (e.g. Skilled Worker, sponsor licence management, compliance and reporting), and solid experience…
