As Payroll Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio of client payrolls and act as a subject matter expert on payroll processes and best practice. You will provide guidance and support to clients on payroll matters while ensuring payrolls are processed accurately, compliantly, and on time.
This role will be primarily home-based, with team training and collaboration days held at the Phase 3 office in Manchester City Centre, typically once per quarter.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the full end-to-end payroll process for a portfolio of client payrolls, ensuring payrolls are processed accurately and within required deadlines
- Ensure all statutory submissions and compliance obligations are completed on time
- Manage auto-enrollment duties for client payrolls, including new starter uploads, monthly contributions, and cyclical re-enrollment
- Attend client meetings to discuss payroll queries, priorities, and ongoing service delivery
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively across a portfolio of payrolls
- Work flexibly and adapt to new systems and processes within a supportive team environment
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, service delivery, and accuracy across all payroll activities

Qualifications- Experience managing high-volume payrolls, ideally with 1,000+ employees
- Experience working within a payroll bureau environment
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and intermediate formulas
- Knowledge of P11
