Previous Local Authority experience is required for this role. About the role We are looking for an experienced HR professional to join our team as an HR Consultant Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). In this role, you will help create a fair, inclusive and supportive workplace for everyone. You will provide expert HR advice, develop and review people policies, and support managers with complex employee relations matters.

You will also work closely with colleague networks and use workforce data and feedback to improve equality, diversity and inclusion across the organisation. This is a varied role where you will work with managers, HR colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure our employment practices are fair, consistent and meet current employment law and good practice. Key requirements Chartered Member of the CIPD, or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience with a commitment to achieve Chartered Membership.

Strong HR experience within Local Authority, including HR policy development, employee relations casework and embedding equality, diversity and inclusion into HR practice. Excellent communication, problem-solving and relationship-building skills, with the ability to advise on complex and sensitive issues. Good understanding of employment law, HR best practice, Equality Impact Assessments (EqIAs) and using workforce data to support decision-making. Able to work independently, manage competing priorities, maintain confidentiality and promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Key responsibilities Develop and review HR policies to ensure they are fair, inclusive, legally compliant and support equality, diversity and inclusion. Provide expert HR advice and support on complex employee relations matters, including conduct, performance, attendance, grievances and investigations. Support Equality Impact Assessments (EqIAs) by analysing workforce data, identifying risks and recommending improvements. Work with colleague networks, managers and stakeholders to strengthen engagement, inclusion and colleague voice.

Contribute to HR projects, guidance and learning resources that improve people management and help build an inclusive workplace culture.
