Location:
Usk, with travel
Pay: £20–£23 per hour PAYE, depending on experience, plus business mileage
Contract:
Eight-month temporary placement
Working pattern:
Hybrid – two days per week in Usk, travel to other sites when required and home working for the remainder
Are you a confident and self-sufficient HR Advisor who enjoys managing varied employee relations matters and building positive relationships with managers?
We’re recruiting an experienced HR Advisor to join the friendly and supportive HR team of a large, multi-site educational organisation. This is a varied generalist opportunity offering plenty of autonomy, hybrid working and the chance to support managers across a diverse workforce.
When you’re not required on site, you’ll be able to work from home.
What you’ll be doing
Providing practical, high-quality HR advice to managers across multiple campuses.
Managing maternity cases and advising managers and employees throughout the process.
Handling flexible-working requests fairly and consistently, in accordance with policy and employment legislation.
Managing and supporting disciplinary and grievance investigations from start to finish.
Advising on wider employee relations, contractual and employment matters.
Guiding investigating and hearing managers to produce thorough reports, letters and supporting documentation.
Coaching managers to build their confidence in applying HR policies and procedures.
Ensuring formal processes are managed sensitively, accurately and within the required timescales.
Building positive working relationships with managers, employees and trade union representatives.
Contributing to HR projects, policy reviews and continuous service improvements.
Independently managing a busy and varied workload across a multi-site organisation.
What we’re looking for
Previous experience in a generalist HR Advisor or comparable role.
Essential experience of managing:
Maternity cases.
Flexible-working requests.
Disciplinary investigations.
Grievance investigations.
Current knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
A positive, cheerful and approachable communication style.
The confidence and initiative to work without constant supervision.
Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to provide constructive, pragmatic advice.
Excellent organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities.
A CIPD Level 5 qualification, equivalent experience or progress towards a relevant qualification is preferred.
A full driving licence, access to a car This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR Advisor who wants the flexibility of home working alongside a genuinely varied, people-focused role.
