Start your career in recruitment

Are you confident, ambitious and good at building relationships?

You may currently work in customer service, retail, hospitality, sales, administration or education-or you may simply be looking for the right opportunity to begin your professional career.

You don't need recruitment experience. If you are comfortable speaking with people, motivated by achieving goals and willing to learn, we'll provide the training and support you need.

Empowering Learning is looking for a Trainee Education Recruitment Consultant to join our established Manchester team in September 2026.

You'll help teachers and support staff find new opportunities while supporting schools with their recruitment needs. As your confidence and experience develop, you'll progress towards managing vacancies, building relationships with schools and running your own successful recruitment desk.

What you'll be doing

Initially, you'll focus on finding, interviewing and supporting education professionals. Your responsibilities will include:

Searching for candidates through job boards, Linked In, social media, referrals and our existing database.
Speaking with applicants by telephone and conducting candidate interviews.
Building strong, long-term relationships with teachers and support staff.
Writing engaging job adverts and supporting recruitment campaigns.
Matching suitable candidates with available opportunities.
Coordinating interviews and supporting candidates throughout the process.
Maintaining accurate records and helping candidates complete compliance checks.
Working towards achievable individual and team targets.

This is a fast-moving, telephone-based role, so you'll need to enjoy speaking with people and be comfortable working towards clear goals.

Who we're looking for

You don't need previous recruitment experience, but you should be:

Confident and comfortable speaking with people.
Motivated, resilient and keen to progress.
Naturally good at building relationships.
Organised and able to manage different priorities.
A strong written and verbal communicator.
Positive, professional and willing to learn.
Comfortable working towards targets as part of a supportive team.

Experience in sales, customer service, hospitality, retail, administration, recruitment or education would be helpful but is not essential.

Applicants must hold GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent qualifications.

What you'll receive

A starting salary of £26,000.
Regular performance-related bonus opportunities.
27 days' annual leave.
One work-from-home day each week.
Structured training and ongoing one-to-one coaching.
A clear progression route into a Recruitment Consultant position.
Support towards professional recruitment qualifications.
A friendly, experienced and collaborative team.
The opportunity to build a long-term career within education recruitment.

Our recruitment process

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to our Manchester office to meet the team and take part in practical individual and group activities.

The session is designed to help us get to know you and give you a better understanding of the role. No previous recruitment knowledge is required, and full instructions will be provided.

Interested?

If you're ready to challenge yourself, develop new skills and build a rewarding career where your contribution is recognised, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today with your CV.

Empowering Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Successful applicants will be subject to appropriate suitability and employment checks.
