Payroll Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly efficient and accurate Payroll Specialist to join their fully remote team. This role is responsible for the meticulous processing of payroll for all employees, ensuring timely and correct payments, deductions, and compliance with all relevant labor laws and tax regulations. You will be a key player in maintaining employee trust and ensuring the smooth operation of the HR and finance functions.

• Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll accurately for all employees across different provinces.
• Calculate and ensure correct application of wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and statutory contributions (PAYE, UIF, SDL).
• Manage employee data changes, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and benefit updates in the payroll system.
• Prepare and distribute payroll reports, including payslips, payroll summaries, and tax reconciliation reports.
• Ensure compliance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Skills Development Act, and other relevant legislation.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters in a timely and professional manner.

• High school diploma or equivalent; a qualification in Payroll Management or Accounting is advantageous.
• Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in payroll processing.
• Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., Sage VIP, Pay Space) and HRIS systems.
• Solid understanding of South African payroll legislation, tax regulations, and labor laws.
• Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently in a remote setting.
