Are you an HR Adviser who enjoys being close to the people, the operation and the decisions that make a business tick?

Syme Drummond is partnering with William Grant & Sons to appoint an HR Adviser for a nine-month maternity cover contract at their Tullamore site.

This is a brilliant opportunity to take real ownership of HR for a close-knit operational site of around 90 people. You’ll be the dedicated HR presence in Tullamore, working closely with the Site Leader and sitting as part of the site leadership team. It’s an autonomous role, but certainly not an isolated one. You’ll be connected to a wider HR team through regular operational and team meetings, with specialist support available for more complex or escalated matters.

It’s a genuinely varied generalist role, so no two weeks are likely to look quite the same. You’ll provide practical, trusted HR advice to leaders and employees across the site, supporting everything from employee relations and absence management through to recruitment, occupational health, engagement and learning & development.

• Manage recruitment and selection from requisition through to offer
• Support employee relations matters and formal processes
• Work closely with managers on absence management and day-to-day people matters
• Coordinate local learning and development activity
• Support employee engagement initiatives and events
• Monitor HR metrics and use people data to identify where support or intervention may be needed
• Contribute to local HR projects, process improvements and wider business initiatives

You don’t need to have spent your whole career in the drinks industry – attitude and approach are just as important as sector experience. You will, however, need previous HR Adviser/generalist experience and enough practical exposure to confidently step into a hands-on site role.

Strong working knowledge of Irish employment legislation is important, alongside experience supporting employee relations, absence management, recruitment and the wider employee lifecycle.

Experience with in FMCG, manufacturing, food production, hospitality, retail or another operational environment would translate particularly well.

Most importantly, you’ll be approachable, pragmatic and happy to roll your sleeves up. This is a smaller, close-knit site where people help one another, so someone who enjoys being visible, building relationships and getting involved in site life will really thrive here.

The role is predominantly site based, with four days per week in Tullamore and one day working from home.

There is also genuine flexibility for someone looking for part-time hours. This could be 32 hours across four days or reduced hours across five days, although full-time hours compressed into four days unfortunately can’t be accommodated.

There’s no regular travel requirement outside of Tullamore, although there may occasionally be opportunities to connect with the wider team in Scotland or support another site for development.
