The Opportunity

Môrwell Talent Solutions is recruiting for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join a growing Cardiff-based organisation on a fixed-term contract of up to six months.

The role sits within the wider People/HR function and provides support across payroll, HR administration and the employee lifecycle. However, the client is very happy to consider candidates whose experience is primarily or exclusively payroll-focused, provided they have strong payroll experience and are able to work confidently and independently.

The successful candidate will ideally be available at short notice, as the current postholder is due to leave in October and a smooth handover is required.

  • Maintaining accurate payroll and pension records.
  • Processing employee changes, including starters, leavers, salary changes and other amendments.
  • Administering employee benefits and supporting benefit-related queries.
  • Providing support and responding to employee and manager queries.
  • Maintaining and updating HR, payroll and employee records.
  • Administering the HRIS, payroll and benefits platforms.
  • Supporting the onboarding and offboarding process.
  • Preparing payroll and HR-related reports and information.
  • Ensuring employee records are maintained in line with GDPR and information security requirements.
  • Supporting HR administration throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Assisting with recruitment administration, references and background checks where required.
  • Preparing employee letters and documentation.
  • Providing first-line support on general HR queries where appropriate.
  • Supporting employee welfare processes and Occupational Health referrals where required.
  • Assisting with employee relations administration, including grievance and disciplinary processes.
  • Supporting wider People/HR projects and initiatives as required.
  • Working collaboratively with HR, Finance, managers and the wider Professional Services team.
  • Occasional travel to other offices across South and West Wales may be required.
About You

We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have strong payroll experience, whether this has been gained within a dedicated payroll role or as part of a broader HR/Payroll position.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in payroll administration or a similar payroll-focused role.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes and procedures.
  • Experience maintaining accurate payroll and pension records.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • The ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively.
