Position: HR Professional (10109458)

We are looking for a Human Resources Professional who appreciates and contributes to a working environment that is polite, friendly, and supportive.

HR Professionals at the Law Offices of the Public Defender work in all phases of Human Resources. The tasks may vary from basic data processing, complex personnel issues, labor relations, payroll, drafting internal procedures, researching and implementing new hiring techniques.

You’ll get a chance to do everything HR-related and share your knowledge and experiences with us.

The hourly rate of pay for an HR Professional typically ranges from $23.99-$42.27/hourly.

Employees who complete their probationary period are eligible for two hours of paid Wellness Leave every week and 12 weeks of Paid Parental Leave.

The Human Resource Administrator:
  • Performs professional level work related to benefits, classification, compensation, human resource management and other human resource related issues:
  • Assignments are typically under the guidance and advice from more experienced HR Team members.
  • May also work independently upon proven/demonstrated performance of HR procedures and assigned tasks.
  • Conducting independent examination, processing and reconciliation of data;
  • Will typically have joint responsibilities as an HR Team member with Senior HR Administrators, Deputy and Director of HR, for team/project outcomes.
  • Works in support of or as a primary administrator of an assigned customer group or project.
  • Process FMLA, and ADA, to include interactive meetings.
  • Process and audit SHARE entries, payroll, timesheets, new hires, terminations, and transfers.
  • Process and audit PERA transactions for new hires, current employees and retirees.
  • Process and audit disability and workers comp claims through the New Mexico General Services Division.
  • Process payroll transactions through the New Mexico Department of Financial Administration.
  • Produce and facilitate HR related training.
  • Performs related and other duties as assigned
The Senior Human Resource Administrator:
  • Performing professional level work that requires analysis and judgment under guidance or within the framework of defined policies or varied procedures and practices to determine the general approach to use.
  • Applying professional and technical knowledge to undertake analysis and interpretation of information and data.
  • Drafting assignment plans for approval of manager and the incumbent is responsible for short to medium term objectives and outcomes commensurate with knowledge and experience.
  • Contributing as a team member, present recommendations and build on others ideas.
  • Performing assignments under the general guidance and advice from more experienced HR professionals and/or manager/supervisor.
  • Research projects and make evaluations, knowing what information to gather and where to find it.
  • Utilize multiple data sources in performing work and making recommendations.
  • Working independently working on labor relations, benefits, classification, compensation, human resource management and other human resource related issues:
  • Demonstrating independent performance of all activities with considerable latitude to plan and organize daily work within established procedures;
