Recruiter Supervisor

We are looking for team-oriented self-starter to join the Penn State Talent Acquisition Team at our State College, PA, location. In this dual-role position, you will be embedded with The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL), supervising, mentoring, and guiding a team of Recruiters and Talent Acquisition Specialists throughout the full talent acquisition life cycle. You will also manage a requisition workload and serve as a talent advisor to hiring managers, with a strong focus on sourcing candidates and building talent pipelines.

As a member of the talent acquisition leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring individual contributor SLAs are achieved as well as resolving escalated issues from team members.

The working environment for this role is available as a hybrid on-site/work from home, with on-site in State College, PA.

ARL is an integral part of one of the leading research universities in the nation and serves as a University Center of Excellence in Defense science, systems, and technologies with a focus in naval missions and related areas. Requirements include:

• A Bachelor’s degree and minimum of six years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Past success delivering high-quality candidates
• Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor direct reports throughout the full recruiting lifecycle, including identifying performance concerns and providing timely coaching and guidance
• Understanding of strategic and transactional recruitment principles and the ability to apply data to drive individual and team talent acquisition performance
• Demonstrated knowledge of broad concepts, laws, regulations, policies and procedures related to human resources and talent acquisition processes
• Ability to build and establish a positive team culture that increases performance, cohesion, and employee engagement
• Ability to liaise with and influence unit leadership, unit HR, HR Tech, and TA Leadership to resolve second tier strategy, process or technology issues
• Ability to identify and solution technology and business process challenges
• Ability to adapt and change in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable in a high volume/high demand environment with difficult to fill positions
• Possess effective oral and written communication skills, including consultative skills with the ability to understand the needs and urgency of an assigned customer base
• Excellent judgment, time/self-management, and customer service skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Added bonus for us includes:

• Experience with Workday, Yello, JIRA, Linked In Recruiter, or similar recruitment tools.
• Experience with high-volume recruitment of Defense science systems and technologies technical professionals (Research and Development Engineers, Research Faculty, Cyber Security, Information Technology, etc.)
