The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced HR generalist who wants to own the HR function. As our first full-time HR Manager, you'll report directly to our CEO and handle people operations across the whole company, from recruiting and hiring through benefits, performance reviews, leaves, and compliance. If you've worked in every part of HR and want a role where you're the go-to expert, this is it.

You'll be supported by a fractional HR partner who prepares payroll and handles state payroll tax compliance.

What You'll Do

  • Run full-cycle recruiting: work with hiring managers to define roles, write job postings, source and screen candidates, coordinate interviews, and extend offers.
  • Manage job postings and candidate pipelines in Rippling, along with job boards and any outside recruiting partners.
  • Run consistent, fair interviews and train hiring managers on how to conduct them.
  • Handle offer letters, background checks, and the handoff from accepted offer to onboarding.

Performance Management

  • Own the performance review cycle from start to finish by setting the timeline, launch each review cycle in Rippling, and send reminders.
  • Hold managers to deadlines so every review is completed on time.
  • Guide managers on writing useful reviews and holding productive feedback conversations.
  • Track completion and share results and trends with the CEO and leadership team.

Benefits & Retirement

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including open enrollment, carrier and broker relationships, and employee questions.
  • Administer the 401(k) plan, including enrollments, contributions, vendor coordination, and annual compliance testing support.

Payroll

  • Work closely with our fractional HR partner, who prepares each payroll run in Rippling for your review.
  • Review and approve payroll, making sure hires, terminations, pay changes, and deductions are accurate.
  • Coordinate with the fractional HR partner, who handles state payroll tax registrations and filings, and provide the employee and location information they need.

Leaves of Absence & Employee Support

  • Manage all leaves of absence (FMLA, state leave programs, disability, and accommodations) from request through return to work.
  • Act as the first point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and employee relations matters.

Compliance & Audits

  • Own the HR controls for SOC 2 and ISO certifications, including policies, onboarding and offboarding evidence, background checks, training records, and audit requests.
  • Support the company's GDPR readiness by managing how employee data is collected, stored, retained, and accessed.
  • Keep handbooks, policies, and hiring practices current with federal and multi-state employment laws.

HR Operations

  • Serve as the company's Rippling administrator: manage workflows, permissions, reports, and employee records.
  • Run onboarding and offboarding, and keep employee data accurate so payroll, benefits, and compliance records stay in sync.
  • Spot gaps in our HR processes and build scalable fixes as the company grows.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience, ideally at a small or mid-size company where you were…
