UK-wide candidate search; remote working possible, with travel as required
ContractInitial 3-month assignment, with potential extension subject to project needs
EngagementDedicated interim assignment arranged through Recruit-i
The opportunityRecruit-i is seeking an experienced industrial trades recruitment specialist for a focused, client-embedded interim assignment supporting a major UK construction programme. The successful individual will take ownership of a high-priority recruitment campaign for mechanical construction trades, combining hands-on sourcing, candidate engagement and practical mobilisation coordination.
This is a delivery-led position for someone who already knows how to reach scarce, site-ready skilled tradespeople and can build a credible recruitment pipeline quickly. You will operate as a dedicated recruitment resource to the project team, rather than as a conventional agency supplier.
Key responsibilities- Lead targeted sourcing and recruitment campaigns for coded welders, pipe fitters, platers and related mechanical / construction trades.
- Activate existing trade networks, referrals, specialist channels and relevant industry contacts to identify suitably experienced workers.
- Develop additional sourcing routes, including regional campaigns, targeted outreach and recruitment events where appropriate.
- Manage the recruitment journey from initial approach and screening through shortlist preparation, interviews / selection and offer coordination.
- Work closely with operational stakeholders to understand workforce numbers, trade competencies, programme priorities and mobilisation dates.
- Coordinate accurate candidate records and the information needed for pre-employment checks, site onboarding and mobilisation, working with the relevant compliance teams.
- Provide clear reporting on candidate pipeline, conversion rates, recruitment risks and upcoming workforce requirements.
- Demonstrable success recruiting skilled mechanical / industrial construction trades in the UK, ideally on large, complex or heavily regulated projects.
- A live and credible network of coded welders, pipe fitters, platers and associated trades, with evidence of successful placements or mobilisation.
- Sound knowledge of practical trade screening, relevant qualifications and certification requirements, and the realities of site-based work.
- Experience scaling recruitment campaigns, building sourcing channels and engaging candidates in competitive labour markets.
- Confident working independently with construction, project delivery and workforce planning teams; organised, commercially aware and comfortable with pace.
- Ability to work on a defined short-term assignment and demonstrate measurable recruitment progress from the outset.
A track record of delivering rapid mechanical trades recruitment at scale; personal relationships within relevant UK trade communities; experience arranging targeted recruitment events; and the ability to move beyond job adverts to proactive, relationship-led sourcing.
