Overview

CNO’s IT team is hiring a Cloud Engineer, Azure Virtual Desktop responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting cloud infrastructure solutions within a Microsoft Azure environment. The role will build and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performing cloud systems using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools like Terraform. The Cloud Engineer will manage Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) deployments, configure and optimize Azure Networking components, and support Dev Ops initiatives by automating infrastructure deployment and operational tasks through scripting and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Azure Dev Ops).

The Cloud Engineer will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability, security, and performance of cloud-based services while continuously identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and modernization.

What you’ll do
  • Design, implement, and manage scalable and secure cloud infrastructure in Microsoft Azure.
  • Deploy, configure, and optimize Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments.
  • Manage and enhance Azure Networking components including VNets, NSGs, Express Route, and Load Balancers.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows using Jenkins and Azure Dev Ops.
  • Write clean, maintainable scripts using Python to support infrastructure automation and orchestration.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure performance and availability using Azure-native and third-party tools.
  • Collaborate with development and security teams to implement best practices for Dev Ops, security, and compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and stakeholders.
What we’re looking for
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services, including compute, storage, networking and identity.
  • Understanding of cloud security principles, including RBAC, encryption, and secure networking.
  • Proficiency in Azure Virtual Desktop, Azure Networking, and cloud security best practices.
  • Experience with Terraform and other IaC tools.
  • Familiarity with Dev Ops pipelines, CI/CD, and automation tools such as Jenkins and Azure Dev Ops.
  • Ability to monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot performance and availability issues.
What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • 5 years of experience designing, implementing, and managing an organization’s cloud computing infrastructure and systems.
  • Prior experience with Azure Virtual Desktop, VMWare, Citrix, or other relevant technologies.
  • Proven experience working in Agile or fast-paced, collaborative environments.

Location and mobility

CNO embraces flexibility and encourages you to work where you’re most productive. Associates who live within a 60-mile radius of a corporate office (Birmingham, Carmel, Chicago, Orlando and Milwaukee) have access to come into that office. Associates outside this radius may perform this role full-time work from home (WFH) from any US-based location, as long as you are willing to work central or eastern time zone hours.

Travel to varying corporate offices may be requested. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.
