Job DescriptionYou will be part of a larger technical team, working as a Network Engineer supporting HPE’s Private Cloud Enterprise environment at a federal customer site. The Network Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining the network infrastructure that supports the delivery of cloud services. This customer‑facing role involves a deep understanding of networking technologies, cloud computing principles, and security best practices.

Secret - Flexible Hybrid Role with onsite requirement at customer location as needed
- Monday‑Friday 9‑5, flexible for evenings and weekends as required
- Monthly rotation schedule required
- Develop and support comprehensive network LAN, WAN, wireless and security solutions that meet requirements and integrate into the overall HP Enterprise network and security architecture.
- Evaluate current network and security systems to propose and implement enhancements on switches, routers, firewall services, VPN and other network management devices.
- Define, design and implement network and security solutions.
- Create and maintain standard builds/templates and apply advanced network and security engineering and architecture knowledge on complex problems.
- Participate in IT network infrastructure project design, reviews and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Work with global customers / service providers to design and implement large complex networks.
- Well versed in cloud architectures, software defined networking, data center switching technologies, and securing virtual environments (AWS, Azure, Google desired).
- Assess vendor development/test strategies for various network domain phase 0 projects.
- Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.
- Deploy bare metal systems and virtual cloud services.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and incorporate them into existing or new systems.
- Support development and administration of processes and procedures to ensure reliability, recoverability, and optimum performance.
- Develop network and security documentation, including diagrams, work instructions, test plans, implementation plans, and project timelines.
- Work as an individual contributor, technical expert, and team member.
- Write functional requirements/specifications documents.
- Accomplish assigned tasks with little supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence in customer‑facing conversations.
- Establish best practices through collaboration with IT Security and IT Infrastructure Operations.
- Collaborate with IT Security and Client Services toward compliance and auditing.
- Travel domestically and/or internationally as needed.
- Maintain sensitivity and respect for a culturally diverse work environment.
- Manage and prioritize complex, changing workloads in a challenging technical environment.
- Advanced knowledge of networking and protocols (TCP/IP, routing, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.).
- Experience with BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IPv4, IPv6, netflow, quality of service, etc.
- Policy Based Routing, Wi‑Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NAT, ACL, web security filtering, IPSec, intrusion prevention.
- Experience with HP/Aruba routing, switching, wireless hardware, Aruba Mobility Controllers, Aruba Airwave, Aruba Central, Aruba Clear Pass.
- Proficiency with F5 LTM/ GTM, VPN services, internet proxies.
- Experience with SDN, SD‑WAN products.
- Firewall management (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Checkpoint, Juniper).
- Strong WAN experience managing global network infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, IT or equivalent experience.
- US Citizen, Secret Clearance Required.
- DD8750 – Security Plus or higher (CISSP, CASP, etc.) required.
- 7 years of progressive experience in network architecture, design and implementation.
