Position Summary
As a Staff Test Engineer, you own the test engineering strategy for large, complex software projects, working closely with development, product, and engineering teams. You design and implement robust test plans, develop and maintain automated test scripts, and drive continuous improvement in testing processes to maximize efficiency through automation. Your deep technical expertise optimizes test frameworks, mentors senior engineers, and ensures high levels of test coverage and quality assurance across products.
You play a critical role in ensuring product quality and stability through proactive risk management and process improvements.

- Develop test plans and strategies to minimize production defects, align with business objectives, and drive an automation‑first approach.
- Design and execute high‑complexity, cross‑functional test cases covering a range of testing types.
- Lead both manual and automated testing efforts, ensuring scalability and maintainability of automation components.
- Create documentation for processes, defect reports, and best‑practice guides.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure clarity of requirements.
- Implement and drive continuous improvement practices, championing test automation, CI/CD integration, and metric‑based impact analysis.

- Mentor less experienced engineers, providing leadership and knowledge sharing.
- Identify and resolve obstacles, ensuring timely delivery of high‑quality software.
- Review test strategies and test cases for multiple teams, providing feedback and ensuring thoroughness.
- Track, analyze, and interpret testing metrics to recommend enhancements.
- Define strategic direction and policies for test engineering across projects.
- Ensure automation effectiveness and coverage aligns with organizational goals.
Minimum:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years industry experience, leading testing teams on medium‑sized projects.
- 3+ years writing complex automation tests.
- Time Management – lead management of multiple large testing projects across teams or business units.
- Collaboration and Communication – lead discussions for task‑specific collaboration, conveying precise technical details, and ensuring clarity on challenges.
- Testing Methodologies – define and drive best practices across the team.
- Attention to Detail – detect and resolve subtle, complex defects.
- Critical Thinking and Problem‑Solving – solve highly complex issues and system‑level problems.
- Requirements Analysis – analyze complex product requirements and design testing approaches.
- Defect Tracking and Documentation – manage defects and drive improvements.
- Automation Scripting – write and maintain complex automated test scripts using tools like Selenium, TestNG, etc.
- API Testing – advanced skills in API testing with Postman, SoapUI, and custom scripts.
- Adaptability and Flexibility – lead adaptation to changing requirements and new technologies.
- Product Knowledge – act as a subject‑matter expert for domain‑specific testing.
