Principal AI Engineer; Europe, remote - Sherpany

Job Description

The Principal AI Engineer will define and own the AI technical vision, drive AI strategy, and shape the architecture and technical direction of Sherpany’s AI systems. The Principal AI Engineer will lead AI initiatives that align with business objectives, provide clear guidance and best practices to engineering teams, and ensure that AI solutions are robust, secure, and scalable. The new colleagues will collaborate closely with product managers, technical leaders, engineers and data scientists to deliver innovative, state‑of‑the‑art AI solutions.

• Define and own Sherpany’s AI technical vision and drive strategy across the product
• Shape scalable AI platform architecture and ensure robust, secure solutions
• Lead design and optimization of on‑prem AI systems, maintaining data privacy and compliance
• Guide engineering teams with clear technical direction and best practices
• Stay ahead of emerging AI technologies and apply them to solve real business problems
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with product, engineering and go‑to‑market teams to deliver impactful AI solutions

• 8+ years in AI / ML engineering, with at least 3 years in architectural or principal‑level roles
• Deep expertise in Python and AI / ML frameworks (PyTorch, Tensor Flow, scikit‑learn)
• Strong knowledge of LLMs, RAG, vector databases and orchestration frameworks
• Experience with secure AI deployments and compliance‑driven environments
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts clearly
• Experience with cloud AI platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus for future initiatives
