What you’ll do as a Solutions EngineerYou are the technical lynchpin through the entire sales cycle - pre-sales and account technical leadership. You will work closely with Public Sector prospects and customers to educate, empower, and ensure their success on the Cloudflare platform. Your technical expertise in Cloudflare’s global distributed network and technology will allow you to find best-fit solutions for prospects, train and onboard new customers via video-conference or in person, create documentation, and support the long-term technology strategy of the customer.
As a Public Sector SE you will need strong technical knowledge of both on-premise security and networking implementations and public cloud initiatives common to US Public Sector customers. You are the technical customer advocate within Cloudflare and will collaborate with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer Support.

Responsibilities- Drive technical discussions and implementations within Cloudflare’s Public Sector Sales team to generate new business, expand existing business, and maintain customer satisfaction.
- Qualify prospect and customer use cases, conduct technical requirements discovery, lead demonstrations, identify solutions, design, and contribute to proofs-of-concept (PoCs).
- Advise customers on technical best practices, implement Cloudflare products and features, and provide strategic guidance within dedicated account teams.
- Travel may be required 30-40% for meetings, conferences, and collaboration with teammates; majority engagement via remote means.
- Understanding of internet technologies: OSI layers, routing TCP/UDP, DNS (authoritative and recursive), HTTP(S), SSL/TLS.
- Comfort with on-premise infrastructure and networking configurations, including legacy systems or methodologies.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a customer-facing sales or consulting role (not necessarily in tech).
- Technical curiosity and passion: ability to stay current with Cloudflare products and industry trends.
- Focus on learning, teaching, collaboration, mentorship, and growth within the team and company.
- Strong project management, relationship-building, and EQ.
- Solid understanding of firewall concepts at L3, L4, and L7; familiarity with ACL terminology.
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred but not strictly required; candidates from all walks of life welcome.
- Foundational understanding of AI and willingness to explore or build AI-driven capabilities to empower prospects and customers to adopt AI practically.
- Graduate-level degrees in Computer Science, Engineering or related fields (not strictly required).
- Ability to translate technical concepts for varied audiences, from systems engineers to IT managers and executives.
- Commitment to continuous learning and sharing knowledge through blogs, demos, and training sessions.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to identify the best Cloudflare components to address a customer’s problem.
- Effective project management, deadline discipline, and prioritization skills.
