Job Summary GEICO is seeking a Distinguished Engineer to serve as a technical leader within the Deployment and Release Platform and Platform Engineering teams. This role is ideal for an industry expert who excels in designing and scaling continuous delivery, deployment automation, and platform engineering solutions for large-scale enterprise environments. As a Distinguished Engineer, you will define and drive the next generation of CD pipelines, Git Ops strategies, platform engineering, and release automation frameworks, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and developer productivity across the organization.

You will collaborate with application teams, senior leadership, and industry partners to set technology direction, influence strategic initiatives, and implement snext-gen release platform and Platform Engineering methodologies.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will guide the team in building robust, scalable, and secure platforms that empower developers, streamline deployment workflows, and enable seamless software releases at enterprise scale. Position Responsibilities Cross-Team

Collaboration:

Work with Application, CI, Security, SRE, and Observability teams to drive alignment on deployment strategies, platform engineering solutions, and software delivery automation.

Qualifications 15+ years of software engineering, Dev Ops, or platform engineering experience, with a deep focus on Dev Sec Ops , CI/CD, deployment automation, platform engineering, and release engineering.

Deep experience with high-scale CI/CD platforms, including Git Hub Actions, Jenkins, Azure Dev Ops pipelines.

Platform Engineering expertise with experience designing self-service platforms, developer portals, and infrastructure automation.

Proficiency in Linux system administration, networking fundamentals, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure).Experience working in large-scale, distributed engineering environments with thousands of engineers.

Preferred Qualifications Influence architecture, mentor teams, and work with cross-functional teams to establish the overall general technical direction.

Deep understanding and hands-on experience with software delivery pipelines, release versioning, distributed systems, and release orchestration

Experience with Development and Dev Ops platforms such as Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub, Jenkins, etc.

Experience with progressive delivery techniques, including feature flags, canary releases, and blue/green deployments.

Prior experience in leading major Dev Ops and platform engineering transformation, cloud migration or open-source initiatives.

Experience designing service-to-service communication patterns, ingress/egress controls and Kubernetes traffic routing strategies using Istio Service Mesh
