- Define and maintain the architectural vision for Wind River Conductor, ensuring scalability, resilience, and security across thousands of distributed sites.
- Lead architectural decision-making for core automation and orchestration capabilities, balancing technical innovation with product delivery priorities.
- Design architectures for operations at scale, enabling consistent, reliable, and repeatable management of thousands of geographically distributed sites.
- Architect zero-touch provisioning frameworks that securely onboard new sites and systems without manual intervention, using policy-driven automation and declarative service definitions.
- Prototype and validate key product changes, emerging technologies, and architectural patterns to guide implementation teams.
- Partner with engineering managers to align design decisions with long-term platform strategy.
- Collaborate with customers, product management, and cross-functional teams to translate business needs into scalable architecture solutions.
- Represent Wind River in industry forums and open-source communities, influencing standards and best practices.
- Mentor engineers on architectural principles and design trade-offs.
- Core Technical Expertise (must have):
- Cloud-native architecture:
Kubernetes, container orchestration, multi-cloud environments (Private Cloud, AWS, Azure, GCP). - Automation & orchestration frameworks:
Cloudify, ArgoCD, Terraform, TOSCA models, ONAP. - Scalable distributed systems:
Designing for high availability, security, and operational automation at global scale. - Expertise in large-scale distributed system design, including federation, fault isolation, and asynchronous orchestration.
- Understanding of zero-touch provisioning architectures, including secure bootstrap mechanisms, device attestation, and policy-driven deployment pipelines.
- Proven track record in designing for immutable infrastructure, declarative configuration management, and event-driven automation to achieve predictable and repeatable outcomes at scale.
- Service modeling & APIs: REST API design, data modeling, and integration strategies.
- Technical Proficiency for Prototyping & Deep Product Understanding (strongly preferred):
- Backend:
Python, Postgre
SQL. - Frontend:
Type Script, modern JS frameworks, state management (Redux or equivalent). - Security:
Secure coding practices, authentication/authorization models.
- ETSI and O-RAN standards.
- Open-source contribution and governance experience.

The annual base salary range for this role’s listed grade level is $150,000 to $210,000 plus a bonus for Colorado, New York, and New Jersey residents, and $170,000 to $230,000 plus a bonus for SF Bay Area, Greater Seattle, NYC, and Washington, DC residents. Salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, and equity with other team members.
