Federal Network Engineer (Clearance Required - Secret), Hybrid Remote & On-Site

Join HPE Aruba Networking as a Federal Network Engineer. This role supports HPE’s Private Cloud Enterprise environment at federal customer sites. You will work primarily from home but will also work onsite at customer locations as required.

Job Summary

You will be part of a larger technical team, working as a Network Engineer supporting HPE’s Private Cloud Enterprise environment at a federal customer site. The Network Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining the network infrastructure that supports the delivery of cloud services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and support comprehensive network LAN, WAN, wireless and security solutions.
  • Evaluate current network and security systems to propose and implement enhancements on switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs and other devices.
  • Create and maintain standard builds/templates and apply advanced network and security engineering knowledge.
  • Participate in IT network infrastructure project design and reviews, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Work with global customers and service providers to design and implement large complex networks.
  • Assess vendor development/test strategies for network domain projects.
  • Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common problems.
  • Support and collaborate on processes and procedures to ensure reliability, recoverability and performance of network infrastructure.
  • Develop network and security documentation, including diagrams, work instructions, test plans and project timelines.
  • Work as an individual contributor and as part of a team, presenting solutions to customers.
  • Travel domestically or internationally if needed.
  • Manage and prioritize complex workloads in a challenging technical environment.
Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship;
    Secret Clearance required.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in network architecture, design, engineering and implementation in global IT networks and network security.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (RIP, BGP, OSPF), MPLS, IPv4/IPv6, DNS, DHCP, VPN, NAT, ACLs.
  • Experience with cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, Google), SDN, SD‑WAN, and virtual network environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with HP and Aruba routing, switching, wireless hardware, and security platforms (Clear Pass, Airwave, etc.).
  • Familiarity with firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Checkpoint, Juniper) and security services (IDS/IPS, SIEM).
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, IT or equivalent; or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications:

    Security+ or higher (CISSP, CASP, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; confidence in customer‑facing conversations.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of networking and network protocols.
  • Understanding of modern service provider networks and TCP/IP standards.
  • Experience with Policy Based Routing, Quality of Service, Net Flow, wireless, NAT, ACL.
  • Experience with proxy services, VPN services and F5 LTM/GTN.
  • Experience with SDN, SD‑WAN and structured cabling.
  • Strong WAN experience managing global network infrastructure.
