The IT Infrastructure Administrator will oversee the design, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of data collection, storage, and access systems for the NEON program. The successful candidate will lead complex infrastructure initiatives, including system installations, upgrades, and modernization efforts. A strategic thinker will evaluate business needs, analyze and organize raw data, and build robust data systems and pipelines to enhance data quality and ensure scalable data access.

Key focus: data quality, efficiency, and scalable access across the organization.

• Provide expert data analysis and modeling, and physical/logical design.
• Perform complex data warehouse design.
• Lead database development functions such as query optimization and schema design.
• Lead database administration functions including backups, restores, maintenance, and security configuration.
• Lead projects from initiation through closing; train other IT staff in best practices.
• Contribute to procedures and standards for database development.
• Identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality.
• Prepare data for predictive and prescriptive modeling.
• Assist with database integration into other applications and infrastructure components.
• Perform needs assessment and evaluate new technologies to maintain core and enterprise infrastructure.
• Engage external vendors as needed to solve complex problems or bugs.
• Provide occasional after-hours support.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 8 years of experience as a Data Engineer/Data Analyst/Database Administrator or equivalent.
• Experience with Postgre
  
  SQL.
• Experience with Trino query engine.
• Experience with Apache Hive data warehouse software.
• Experience with programming languages (Python, Java).
• Experience with Git and CI/CD practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database and software issues; ability to document technical designs and solutions.
• Experience with automation.

• Experience in Google Cloud environment including Cloud
  
  SQL and GKE.
• Experience with MySQL, Microsoft SQL, and Oracle databases.
• Experience working in a scientific environment.

Pay Range: $104,600-$149,000. This reflects the anticipated base salary range; minimums and maximums may vary by location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other factors.
