Platform Engineer (Hybrid)

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is hiring a Platform Engineer (Hybrid) – 25798. The role combines cloud platform engineering with a focus on AWS, Kubernetes, and modern infrastructure as code practices. Hybrid work is supported; employees will work 1–2 days per week at the Augusta, GA office and have the flexibility to work from home as needed.

As a Platform Engineer, you will design, build, and operate cloud-native platforms that enable secure, scalable, and resilient applications for defense and space manufacturing. You will work autonomously, identify and solve complex problems, and collaborate with architects, developers, and operations teams.

• Design, implement, and maintain core architecture and capabilities for software from prototype to production.
• Leverage infrastructure as code (IaC) to define, build, and manage virtual infrastructure in AWS.
• Integrate open-source components and develop custom software components to address complex challenges.
• Collaborate with system integrators to enhance, optimize, or increase robustness of existing code bases.
• Other duties as assigned.

• U.S. citizenship required; U.S. Government Secret clearance will be processed.
• 9+ years of Platform Engineering or Software Development (Python or Go) with a bachelor’s degree; or 7+ years with a master’s; or 13 years with high school diploma.
• Experience deploying infrastructure in AWS, Kubernetes (or vendor flavor), Ansible, and storage layers (Ceph, Rook, longhorn, etc.).
• Solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, applications, and shell scripting.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment (1–2 days per week at Augusta, GA).

• Experience with DISA’s Big Data Platform or similar big data systems.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Git Lab‑CI, Jenkins, etc.).
• Familiarity with agile development and tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Git Hub, and Git Lab.
• Experience with puppet, Ansible, Maven, or virtualization technologies.
