Job SummaryThe Manager of Data Operations is responsible for ensuring the reliability, accuracy and availability of data across the enterprise. This role leads a team that manages the execution, monitoring, and optimization of data pipelines, analytics workloads, and ad-hoc data requests. The manager serves as a bridge between data engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to ensure timely, high-quality data delivery for operational and strategic needs.
Education& Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- U.S. Citizen
- Must be able to receive a favorable Interim and adjudicated final Department of Defense (DoD) background investigation
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics operations, or related roles
- 3+ years of experience formally leading data teams or managing data operations
- Proficiency with SQL, Python, and at least one modern data platform (Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Strong understanding ETL/ELT tools (ADF, Databricks, Snowflake, Airflow, or similar)
- Strong understanding of BI and analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Dev Ops, and data workflow automation concepts
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working in high volume data throughput environment with 24x7 processing
- Experience with Healthcare data
- Experience with Cloud based systems, preferably Azure
- Knowledge of SQLServer and Snowflake
- Oversee daily data operations, including job execution, monitoring, and incident response across cloud and on-prem platforms.
- Maintain data pipelines that support enterprise reporting, dashboards, and analytics use cases.
- Ensure reliability and timeliness of recurring data loads, extracts, and transformations.
- Manage SLAs and uptime for data delivery across multiple systems and domains.
- Coordinate and prioritize ad-hoc data and reporting requests from business units.
- Ensure proper intake, tracking, and fulfillment of one-off or urgent data needs.
- Partner with Data Engineering and Analytics teams to balance ad-hoc and scheduled workloads.
- Establish repeatable processes to convert frequent ad-hoc requests into automated or self-service solutions.
- Lead a team of data engineers and data analysts.
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and performance management.
- Foster collaboration between Operations, Engineering, and Analytics teams.
- Promote a culture of ownership, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Implement tools and processes for pipeline orchestration, alerting, and error handling.
- Drive automation to reduce manual effort and improve data delivery efficiency.
- Collaborate with Data Architecture and Governance to enforce standards and best practices.
- Contribute to capacity planning, change control, and release management.
- Partner with Data Governance and Quality teams to ensure accuracy and integrity of critical datasets.
- Develop and enforce operational documentation, runbooks, and escalation processes.
- Support audits, compliance reviews, and data retention policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
