Job Description
Epic Certified Applications Analyst implements and maintains Epic systems and databases to ensure optimum performance. The analyst manages complex Information System projects and products to provide automated solutions that meet business needs using the Epic solution. Maintains Epic applications and facilitates updates, new releases, and system enhancements. Communicates project and team status to internal and external audiences when necessary. Conducts or participates in system technical and application reviews to determine feasibility, cost, and evaluate usefulness.
Assists in development and training of existing and new employees. Serves as an advocate for VHS needs in all efforts related to the Inova/VHS Alliance. Remains current on programming tools, methodologies, and industry standards, as evidenced by participation in training classes and timely completion of Epic New Version Training/Continuing Education. On call required.

Scope / GrowthConducts or participates in system technical and application reviews to determine feasibility, cost, and evaluate usefulness. Evaluates requests for service, participates in vendor demos, site visits, and reference calls. Leads system investigations to define user requirements and objectives of automation. Serves as applications support contact to troubleshoot problems, incorporate user preferences, and ensure availability of reports to optimize user experience.
System MaintenanceImplements and maintains Epic systems and databases, follows on‑call, downtime and request processing standards, and responds to system issues according to SLA goals and policy.
Project OversightAssists with information systems projects, consults with internal customers, and supports departmental processes such as project planning, change control, and quality assurance. Participates in all phases of review and testing of new enterprise applications and updates.
MentoringAssists in recruitment, development, and training of employees. Keeps current on programming tools and recommends team training programs.
CommunicationCommunicates status to teammates, internal and external customers, and escalates issues as necessary. Provides minutes, vendor correspondence, and status reports following IT documentation standards.
EducationBachelor’s Degree in Healthcare or Information Technology related field or four (4) years of equivalent work experience required.
ExperienceMinimum of three (3) years’ experience in an IT or healthcare role. At least one Epic certification required.
Epic End User ExperiencePreferred experience in End User Experience.
Certification & LicensureAt least one Epic certification or accreditation required. Epic certification in primary module(s) or applications required within 6 months of hire. Current Epic certification must be maintained.
Qualifications- Ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, maintain issues lists, and follow a project plan.
- Competent in Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal/written communication and follow‑up skills.
- Technical knowledge of coordinating, configuring, and building healthcare IT to drive quality improvement, meaningful use, and safety goals.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for health system EHRs.
- Ability to lead and mentor application teams.
- Experience in change management.
- Experience in intra‑system design highly preferred.
