Overview
Data Governance Analyst role at SMBC Group. Reporting to the Head of Nikko America's Data Management and Analytics Group, the analyst will support the implementation of the Enterprise Data Governance Framework with a focus on improving data availability and trustworthiness. This role supports SMBC Nikko Securities America, Inc. (Broker-Dealer) and SMBC Capital Markets, Inc. (Swap Dealer).
Role is located in Charlotte, North Carolina with a hybrid presence in the office.
Responsibilities- Identifying and documenting Key Data Elements used in regulatory reports (e.g., CFTC Capital Calculation, CAT / CAIS, FINRA TRACE, FR2052a, FRY9C, Reg. YY, etc.), key business processes, and other uses of data.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business processes, IT architecture, data flows (downstream effects) and document system of records (or authoritative data sources), Data Owners, Key Data Elements attributes, and Data Lineage.
- Participate with Data Owners in the design and testing of data quality rules for each Key Data Element.
- Maintain the Business Glossary and report inventory (regulatory and non-regulatory).
- Capture data quality issues reported by stakeholders and input detailed information in the Data Quality Incident Management system for tracking.
- Produce and monitor Data Quality KPIs.
- Support root cause analyses when a data quality issue is identified or a process does not work as expected.
- Document business requirements for future system or workflow enhancements and relate these requirements to the Data Governance framework.
- Work with data consumers to understand the source, creation process and purpose of data.
- From 2 to 4 years of relevant experience within the Data Governance field for a financial institution (e.g., bank holding company, broker-dealer, swap dealer) with focus on documenting data requirements and data quality rules, data quality issue logging and tracking.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics/statistics, finance, or equivalent combination of education and working experience is required.
- Knowledge of SQL and Collibra is a plus
- MS Office (Word, Advanced Excel formulas, PowerPoint), MS Project and Visio
- Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau is required
