We’re looking for a
** Head of Platform Engineering
** to lead our global platform function, driving the strategy, architecture, and operations of the core systems and networks that underpin our products. This is a senior leadership role, pivotal in ensuring Paymentology continues to scale securely, reliably, and innovatively.

**** Leadership and Strategy:
*** Define and execute the long-term platform, networking, and site reliability engineering vision and roadmap.
* Build, lead, and mentor globally distributed platform engineering teams.
* Instil a Dev Ops culture of ownership, automation, and continuous improvement.
** Platform Engineering & Cloud Operations
*** Oversee
** cloud infrastructure** (
** AWS** &
** GCP**), Kubernetes platforms, and global networking.
* Drive automation-first practices, including infrastructure-as-code, Git Ops, and immutable deployments.
* Establish and monitor SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs to ensure reliability and performance.
* Lead incident management, blameless postmortems, and resilience engineering initiatives.
* Own Fin Ops and cloud operations, ensuring platforms are cost-efficient, right-sized, and financially accountable.
* Partner with Finance and Product to forecast cloud spend and optimise resource usage.
** CI/CD & Developer Experience
*** Own the end-to-end
** CI/CD ecosystem**, ensuring all teams can release safely, quickly, and reliably.
* Provide self-service pipelines, test automation, and deployment tooling.
* Embed security and compliance checks directly into the CI/CD process.
* Champion a “paved road” developer experience that reduces friction and accelerates delivery.
** Security & Compliance
*** Partner with Security Engineering to embed zero-trust, modern IAM, and end-to-end TLS.
* Drive adoption of secrets management and certificate lifecycle automation.
* Ensure all platform services and pipelines are compliant with PCI DSS, GDPR, and local regulations.
** Networking & Connectivity (Mission-Critical)
*** Lead Paymentology’s
** global networking strategy**, ensuring
** secure**,
** resilient**,
** low-latency connectivity.
*** Build automation and observability into networking for
** proactive detection and rapid recovery.
**** Collaboration & Influence
*** Collaborate with product and business leaders to anticipate scaling needs and influence technology strategy.
* Represent the platform function with external partners, regulators, and customers.
** What it takes to succeed:
*** Minimum 10 years of
** proven experience leading platform**, SRE, or Dev Ops functions at scale in mission-critical environments
* Deep expertise in
** cloud-native architectures** (AWS, GCP), Kubernetes, CI/CD, networking, and distributed systems
* Track record of driving automation with
** infrastructure-as-code**, Git Ops, and observability platforms
* ** Strong SRE mindset**, with experience applying SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and resilience engineering
* ** Security-first approach**, with experience embedding compliance into automated pipelines
* ** Strong leadership skills**, with a record of building high-performing, distributed engineering teams, preferably in a global or remote-first context
* Payments knowledge is a plus, but not essential – what matters most is
** experience with mission-critical, always-on systems**--
