Overview
Individual Consultant for Technical Editor for Knowledge Products at ENTRO, Eastern Nile Technical Regional Office, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The consultant will compile, edit, summarize, categorize, and ensure accessibility of knowledge products under the Nile Cooperation for Climate Resilience (NCCR) project and support integration with the Integrated Knowledge Platform (IKP).
Responsibilities- Review, editing and proofreading of Knowledge Products to ensure clarity, coherence, and consistency with the NCCR style guide and formatting standards.
- Proofread and correct grammatical, syntactical, and typographical errors; ensure correct use of technical terms, acronyms, and abbreviations.
- Summarization and categorization:
Develop concise summaries for thematic areas; categorize knowledge products by themes, sub-projects and intended audiences; produce one-page policy briefs for each thematic area; create an executive summary of the NCCR project; recommend keywords and metadata tagging for IKP. - Quality Assurance:
Collaborate with technical teams, thematic area coordinators, and ENTRO management to ensure accuracy and consistency; verify materials are free from errors and inconsistencies. - Accessibility and Integration:
Work with IKP development team to ensure proper uploading and linking of knowledge products; ensure materials are accessible to users with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Edited and proofread versions of all NCCR knowledge products.
- Concise summaries for key reports and studies for each thematic area.
- Executive summary of the NCCR project with a list of reports.
- Categorized and tagged knowledge products ready for IKP integration.
- A report outlining challenges, recommendations for future knowledge product development, and a dissemination plan.
- The Consultant will be engaged for 45 staff days over a period of three months.
- Expected start date: third week of May 2025, ensuring consistency with the TOR.
- Remote work is possible, with periodic virtual meetings; one or two trips to ENTRO offices in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia may be required for data collection, information gathering and report presentations.
The Consultant should have a master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., environmental science, water resources management, engineering, communications, or related disciplines) and at least 15 years of experience in technical editing, report writing, proofreading and content development.
