Are you ready to make an impact in the world of energy and technology? The IT Markets team at Southwest Power Pool plays a critical role in keeping the bulk electric grid and wholesale power markets running smoothly across our footprint. We’re looking for a skilled Applications Analyst to join our team and help optimize the performance and efficiency of our mission-critical systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide enterprise-level expertise across assigned applications and technical areas.
  • Lead the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of critical application systems.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues to ensure optimal performance.
  • Respond to customer-reported issues promptly and effectively.
  • Participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation.
  • Navigate complex, highly integrated systems with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Understand the business and technical requirements of your applications and how they interact with other systems.
  • Engage in all phases of SDLC and project life cycles, including requirements gathering, design, testing, release deployment, and implementation coordination.
  • Create and maintain thorough technical documentation.

To be successful as an IT Applications Analyst, we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology-related field or equivalent experience
  • Lead:
    Ten (10) years of applicable experience in Information Technology Development and/or Support related roles or a combination of technical experience and leadership experience
  • Senior:
    Six (6) years of applicable Information Technology application administration and support experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience or a combination of technical experience and leadership experience
  • Expert working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, UNIX or Linux operating systems, application development and support, and database management systems
  • Expert troubleshooting, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Expert written and oral communication skills
  • Expert working knowledge of SDLC and project life cycle methods and practices
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills
  • Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures
