About the Role
We’re looking for a Power On Developer to design, build, and optimize custom Power On programs, reports, and automation within our core banking environment. You’ll work directly with IT, Operations, Lending, and Member Services teams to enhance workflows, reduce manual tasks, and support mission-critical banking operations.
Responsibilities Core Development- Design, develop, test, and deploy Power On scripts
, custom Symitar forms, reports, and batch programs. - Modify and extend existing Power On code for new product features, compliance updates, and system enhancements.
- Build automation for loan processing, new accounts, cards, member communications, and internal workflows.
- Integrate Power On programs with third-party APIs, digital banking platforms, and internal systems.
- Support data mappings, file transfers, and middleware components (JHA, Sym Xchange, Sym Connect, Episys, etc.).
- Develop custom reports for finance, lending, operations, and regulatory needs.
- Create dashboards, data extracts, and scheduled jobs to support business analytics.
- Maintain data accuracy and integrity across all systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Power On program issues in production environments.
- Assist during system upgrades, patches, and new feature rollouts.
- Provide technical documentation and end-user training when needed.
- 2+ years experience with Power On programming in Symitar/Episys environment.
- Strong understanding of core banking processes (loans, deposits, new accounts, cards, GL).
- Experience with Symitar workflow tools:
Rep Gen, Sym Form, Sym Xchange, Sym Connect
, etc. - Proficiency with SQL, file structures, and data mapping.
- Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Solid debugging, testing, and version‑control habits.
- Experience with credit union or community bank IT operations.
- Familiarity with API integration, ETL, batch automation, or scripting (Python, JavaScript, Power Shell).
- Experience working with digital banking vendors (Q2, Alkami, NCR, Tyfone, etc.).
- Knowledge of Symitar OpCon, Power On Manager, and batch schedulers.
- Strong communication and cross-department collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Detail-oriented, security-minded, and comfortable working in regulated environments.
