Mainframe System Administrator (Remote within EU territory) – International mission
Job Role: Mainframe System Administrator.
Location: Remote from EU with multiple visits to Belgium.
Potential Client: Important global organisation within the insurance industry.
Description:
As a Mainframe System Administrator, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our mainframe environment. You will ensure the stability, security, and performance of critical business systems that are essential for our daily operations. Additionally, you will plan and oversee the system changes executed by our management partner.
Functions/ Requirements:
- System Administration: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of mainframe systems (z/OS, MVS), primarily focusing on planning, coordinating, testing, and monitoring, as installations are carried out by our management partner.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance and optimize resources.
- Backup & Recovery: Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Security Management: Manage access rights and security protocols, assist with user management.
- Troubleshooting: Analyze and resolve technical issues.
- Support: Provide advice and assistance.
- Capacity Planning: Monitor system capacity and advise on expansions.
- Documentation: Maintain technical documentation and procedures.
- 24/7 Support: Participate in on-call duties for critical incidents.
Technologies/
Skills:
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience with mainframe systems (IBM z/OS).
- Knowledge of JCL, COBOL, DB2, CICS, IMS, RACF, SCLM.
- Experience with system management tools (TSO/ISPF, SDSF).
- Understanding of network technologies and protocols.
Languages & Levels:
- Proficiency in English is mandatory;
Dutch and French are an advantage.
Education level:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Technical Informatics, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (IBM, mainframe) are a plus.
Personal Attributes:
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills.
- Team player with an independent work attitude.
Location:
Hybrid working possible, but regular onsite visits are mandatory. Belgium
Possible start date of the consultant: ASAP
Start date & End date of the demand: Six-month initial contract with a possibility for extension beyond that point.
