Senior Desktop Support Analyst (BUS TCHL SUPP ANL 3 TX)
Under general direction of the Letters and Science IT Service Desk and Desktop Support Manager, provide advanced consultation, training, instruction, and troubleshooting for faculty, research staff, administrative staff, graduate students and other affiliates across the 50+ Letters and Science departments for hardware, software, network and related computer systems, specialized research equipment, and handheld and peripheral devices. Ensure operation of such systems for individuals and groups.
Analyze, recommend, install, configure, and evaluate systems and tools for internal and end‑user use. Develop and conduct tests of hardware and software and report on configurations and behavior. Develop and provide technical documentation and training. Assess needs and recommend hardware and software acquisitions and upgrades. Supervise student employees. Fulfill information‑security duties and manage compliance with information‑security and privacy requirements.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- No minimum education required.
- Experience providing advanced technical support and consulting services via telephone, email, online chat, and in person.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS, and Linux client operating systems and common office applications.
- Experience managing incidents and requests through IT Service Management ticketing systems.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting networking protocols and services such as DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP and common networking hardware.
- Experience with scripting/automation languages (e.g., Bash, Power Shell, Python, Perl) and securing systems according to IT security policies.
- Strong written and oral communication skills to explain technical material in non‑technical terms and to deliver training and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- ITIL Foundations certification or similar ITSM methodology, and/or certifications in advanced technical troubleshooting (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Desktop, vendor‑specific hardware repair).
- Experience supporting research software such as Matlab, SPSS, SAS, Stata.
- Experience managing multiple Linux operating systems for servers and workstations, and interoperation with other OS for file sharing and remote access.
- Experience using IBM Big Fix endpoint management platform.
