Position PurposeThe Application Developer II – Business Intelligence collaborates with Program Managers/Directors, Business Systems Analysts, and key business stakeholders to identify opportunities for technological improvement and to design, develop, test, and deploy automated solutions aligned with corporate strategy. The role supports the migration from an on‑prem Qlik Sense environment to the SAP Analytics Stack (SAP Datasphere + SAP Analytics Cloud), translating reporting requirements into sustainable BI solutions and ensuring best practices are followed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Collaborate with Program Managers/Directors, Business Systems Analysts, and stakeholders to understand application requirements.
- Perform testing and maintain complex programs and reports using specifications from IS Business Systems Analysts and Business Process Owners.
- Develop a working understanding of end‑to‑end system behavior, including upstream and downstream dependencies, data flows, and system interactions.
- Write clean, efficient, and well‑documented code based on application design.
- Develop and maintain unit tests to ensure code quality and functionality.
- Debug and resolve application issues.
- Participate in integration testing to ensure compatibility with other systems.
- Analyze and optimize application performance to improve speed and scalability.
- Participate in code reviews, maintain code quality and consistency, and collaborate in agile development environments.
- Ensure data integrity and security within the technical area of responsibility, advocating for data governance practices.
- Monitor production application for errors, performance issues, and availability inhibitors.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications needed to meet changing business requirements; recommend system controls and protocols.
- Escalate issues by recognizing severity and impact on users, business processes, and other systems.
- Provide users, team members, and management with ongoing status of all activities by tracking project tasks and support requests.
- Utilize version control applications to organize and secure all development projects and code.
- Support knowledge transfer to the Technical Services team for completed projects.
- Provide second‑level operational support for the Technical Services team.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Strong data modeling expertise (star schemas, calculation views, composite providers, etc.).
- Solid SQL skills and understanding of data flows from SAP (ECC/S4, BW) and non‑SAP sources into the analytics layer.
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable reporting solutions.
- Clear communicator who can work effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Experience across the full BI project lifecycle (requirements → development → testing → deployment → support).
- 3+ years of hands‑on BI development on a major platform (Qlik Sense/Qlik View, Power BI, Tableau, Business Objects, Cognos, Micro Strategy, etc.).
- BA in Information Technology or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience in information systems or computing engineering.
- Experience with agile methodologies preferred.
- Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) or SAP Datasphere / Data Warehouse Cloud.
- Background in SAP BW, BW/4
HANA, or S/4
HANA embedded analytics. - Experience migrating from Qlik Sense/Qlik View to another BI platform.
- Familiarity with SAP HANA calculation views or Analytic Application Services (AAS).
- SAC planning experience (integrated planning, value‑driver trees, forecasting).
This is an on‑site position in Manteca, CA, four days a week (Monday‑Thursday) and does not accept remote work.
