The group's main business is the implementation of mission critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications customers.
Note: Preferred candidates will reside in the Central time zone or Eastern time zone.
Overview: The Field Engineering team plays a crucial role in enhancing public safety by deploying Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), Mobile Applications, and Records Management Systems (RMS). They handle all on‑premise hardware and equipment installations for government and municipal projects, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent quality and promote efficient standardization and reuse.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and executing customer installation activities within agreed upon project time frames.
- Verifying the complete functionality and readiness of systems for software deployment.
- Conducting routine system tasks like software updates, system upgrades, data backup/restoration, and troubleshooting.
- Gaining a deep understanding of public safety customer environments to ensure optimal product security and reliability.
- Demonstrating proficient software and IP networking skills, coupled with excellent problem‑solving abilities.
- Deliver solutions that align with existing products, standard interfaces, and pre‑defined procedures.
- Diagnose and resolve issues across systems, networks, and infrastructure.
- Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed.
- Identify defects, work with project team/Engineering to support through resolution.
- Adhering to all corporate guidelines and completing required training, including CJIS compliance.
- Accurately logging billable hours for project work.
- Occasional travel (25%-50%) will be required, depending on project and business needs.
Proven experience installing, administering, and troubleshooting the following:
- Server Virtualization/Containerization:
Specifically VMware ESXi v.7+ and/or Red Hat Open Shift. - Database Servers:
Particularly Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and later. - Server Operating Systems:
Including Windows Server 2019 and later. - Workstation Operating Systems:
Such as Windows 10 & 11, and Linux. - Network LAN Switches:
Experience with HP Arista is a plus. - Storage Area Network (SAN):
Experience with HPE Alletra and Nimble is a plus. - Basic Firewall and Router knowledge:
Fortinet Fortigate experience is a plus. - Server and Workstation hardware:
Experience with HPE compute hardware is a plus. - Windows Active Directory (AD) administration including Group Policy Object (GPO) and Domain Name System (DNS).
- Experience using Team City is a plus.
Prior experience with the deployment, integration, operations, or administration of Public Safety Applications.
A strong ability to independently select appropriate methods and techniques to solve problems.
The capacity to collaborate effectively with regional and territorial management.
Excellent communication skills, enabling you to interact clearly with peers and senior stakeholders.
Demonstrated critical thinking skills for effective problem‑solving and decision‑making.
