Position: System Administrator

The client is seeking an experienced System Administrator with 9 years of hands‑on experience to support the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Windows-based environments and VMware virtualization
, along with a solid technical education. This role requires onsite support in Baltimore, Maryland, with the opportunity for remote work in the future based on performance and project needs.
Client: Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA)
Work Location: 707 N. Calvert Street, Baltimore Maryland. 100% onsite with the possibility of a hybrid schedule in the future
Interview Mode: Virtual via MS Teams
Responsibilities- Administer, maintain, and support enterprise Windows Server environments
- Manage and support VMware virtual infrastructure, including monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
- Provide day-to-day system administration support for servers, storage, and related infrastructure
- Perform system upgrades, patches, backups, and recovery operations
- Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system, hardware, and software issues
- Support security controls, compliance requirements, and best practices for government environments
- Collaborate with network, security, and application teams to support SHA infrastructure
- Create and maintain system documentation, procedures, and operational guides
- Participate in after-hours or on-call support as required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 9 years of experience as a System Administrator or similar role
- Strong experience with Microsoft Windows System Administration
- Hands‑on experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi environments
- Experience supporting enterprise or government IT environments
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure
