ASRC Federal was recently awarded a Search Services program supporting the US Patent and Trademark Office. If you have a STEM related degree (Electrical Engineering or Computer Science are ideal) and a passion for research, this is an opportunity to be mentored in the world of patent research. We are seeking a Patent Analyst/Searcher (Junior level) that will focus on text searches related to Computer Architecture and Software, as well as Computer Technology:
Network, Multiplexing Cable and Cybersecurity. Candidates with some patent experience or text searching with a degree in Engineering (electrical is a strong plus) or Computer Science are encouraged to apply. This is a 100% remote position. Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree - Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (will consider other Technology Field)
- Knowledge of Computer Architecture and Software, Networks, multiplexing cable and Cybersecurity strongly desired for this specific position as the text searches will be focused in this area of technology.
- Zero to two years of experience in a research related aspect with a passion for internet searching and/or using on-line vendors for professional searching.
- Some experience in electronic database searching (understanding Boolean, filters, indexing)
- Experience searching on computer and electrical engineering topics/industries is ideal for this position.
- Searching scientific and technical literature on one or more major on-line commercial vendors is strongly desired
- Experience searching for literature and resources on the Internet.
- Experience with USPTO's 2100/2400 Technology Centers that are focused on Computer and Information Technology is a plus!
- Experience or knowledge of patents and/or patent process is a plus.
- Knowledge of scientific and technical information resources (may include business methods)
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Successfully complete a government issued clearance (Permanent Residency or US Citizenship required).
Responsibilities:
- Performs detailed technology-related literature searching in various online databases in areas such as Computer Architecture, Software, Networking, multiplexing cables and Cybersecurity.
- Analyzes search requests to determine requirements and strategy, develops and modifies complex search strategies to conduct searches of electronic resources.
- Reviews and prepares search results for customer in specified formats.
- Uses independent judgment in selecting from a wide variety of electronic databases.
- Fluently uses search tools offered by a number of vendors as well as in house systems to develop complex search strategies and conduct the searches.
- Responds to requests requiring difficult and comprehensive searches for information through the use of primary and secondary sources, both current and retrospective, ephemereral materials, and/or information not readily available in published form.
