Software Development Engineer - Zoom AI API Suite

What you can expect

Zoom is building the Zoom AI API Suite — a new platform that opens our industry‑leading AI capabilities to the world. This is your chance to build the foundation of Zoom’s next major growth engine, enabling developers and enterprises everywhere to harness our proprietary AI for speech, translation, and beyond.

As a founding engineer, you’ll help define the architecture, engineering culture, and technical direction of Zoom’s AI platform from day one. You will build and scale our AI API offerings starting with Speech Recognition and expanding to Machine Translation, OCR, and AI Summary services.

• Owning the end‑to‑end design and scalability of APIs that power real‑world AI experiences — from real‑time speech recognition to intelligent summaries.
• Building core infrastructure that will serve millions of API calls daily and become the backbone of Zoom’s AI ecosystem.
• Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable APIs and SDKs for Zoom's AI services (ASR, MT, OCR, AI Summary).
• Building robust batch and real‑time processing capabilities for speech recognition and other AI services.
• Integrating AI services with Zoom's billing platform and self‑service infrastructure.
• Collaborating with AI research teams to product ionize proprietary AI models.
• Ensuring API security, reliability, and scalability to support enterprise customers.
• Shaping the developer experience for one of Zoom’s most strategic new product lines.

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with focus on API/SDK development
• Be proficient in modern programming languages (Python, Java, Go, or similar)
• Possess deep understanding of RESTful API design principles and best practices
• Have a background in building developer tools, SDKs, or client libraries
• Bring experience in AI/ML service APIs or cognitive services platforms
• Have experience building and scaling distributed systems and microservices
• Demonstrate knowledge of speech recognition, NLP, or computer vision technologies
• Have experience with OpenAPI/Swagger specifications

In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration; base salary, bonus and equity value.

Note:

Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.

We also have a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in this and other locations.
