Research Scientist

• Salary range of $113,174 to $171,720, based on skills, experience, and location

• Conduct applied research focused on Wikipedia's content policies and community integrity
• Design and execute experiments for data collection, cleaning, and analysis
• Collaborate with peers across various teams to respond to incidents and coordinate research efforts
• Document and communicate research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Provide research consulting to Wikimedia teams and volunteers

• PhD degree in computer science, information science, statistics, or a related technical field
• Demonstrated ability to work on problems with both social and technical components
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis and machine learning model development
• Experience with Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

• Deep knowledge of the Wikimedia ecosystem and its operational projects
• Experience with volunteer or open source communities
• Familiarity with the Hadoop ecosystem and analytical tools such as Hive or Spark
• Experience working in large, matrixed organizations
