Join Akamai Technologies as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) in the Mapping SRE team. In this role you’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve the availability, reliability and performance of Akamai’s Mapping Service, which handles trillions of client requests per day.
Responsibilities- Monitor, investigate, and analyze performance and availability by designing, managing, and tracking product‑related SLIs/SLOs.
- Develop tools and prototypes to proactively monitor service performance and availability, preventing recurrence of incidents.
- Advise product engineers on reliable and scalable system design for supportability, resilience, and reliability.
- Leverage data analysis, network diagnostics, and debugging tools to characterize performance issues and recommend improvements.
- Work with support, operations, and engineering teams to investigate and troubleshoot complex problems, including incident management and post‑mortem reviews.
- Collaborate internally to troubleshoot and resolve escalated incidents for customers.
- 5+ years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Proficiency with scripting or procedural languages (Python, Perl, Shell, C/C++, Java, etc.).
- Hands‑on experience in a Unix/Linux computing environment.
- Experience with monitoring, alerting, and logging platforms such as Grafana.
- In‑depth understanding of computer networking concepts, Unix/Linux internals, distributed systems, and system design.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; able to articulate technical information clearly.

For US‑based candidates the base salary ranges from $106,600 to $221,400 per year, plus potential incentive and equity opportunities. Compensation varies for non‑US candidates.
