JOB SUMMARY:

The Digital Accessibility Specialist at Miles Partnership is responsible for supporting accessibility initiatives and ensuring that our digital products and services are inclusive and accessible to users of all ages and all abilities.

This role assists in the development and implementation of accessibility strategies, standards, and best practices across digital products. Your knowledge of accessibility guidelines and regulations will help us create digital experiences that meet the needs of individuals with disabilities and comply with accessibility standards.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment (both virtually and in-person).
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong familiarity of accessibility guidelines, standards, and best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) – specially version 2.2.
  • Familiarity and previous experience with automated scanning software (examples include Deque, Usable Net, Siteimprove, etc.).
  • Experience with manual testing, including the use of assistive technologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally, including the ability to articulate remediations to developers.
  • Familiarity with providing accessibility annotations within design software (such as Figma).
  • Detail-oriented with analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Passionate about creating inclusive and accessible digital experiences.
  • Displays a dependable, strong work ethic.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support conformance efforts with accessibility regulations, including WCAG 2.2 AA conformance, and other relevant guidelines for digital products.
  • Participate in accessibility assessments and audits to identify barriers and areas for improvement, through a combination of automated scans and manual testing.
  • Outlining remediations so developers can implement the necessary changes / optimizations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate accessibility into the design, development, and post-launch phases.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accessibility strategies, policies, and standards.
  • Present progress reports, accessibility updates, and related service offerings to clients and stakeholders (both virtually and in-person).
  • Contribute to providing guidance and training to employees on accessibility principles, techniques, and best practices.
  • Promote awareness of accessibility within the organization and support its importance for digital products.
  • Collaborate with external partners, clients, and stakeholders to address accessibility requirements.
  • Work closely with designers, developers, and content creators to ensure accessible user experiences.
  • Engage in accessibility annotations within design software (such as Figma).
  • Stay informed about evolving accessibility regulations and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to the development of accessible templates, tools, and resources for the company and team.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2+ years of experience supporting digital products and digital accessibility or a related role.
  • 1+ years of experience with CMS based web development.
  • Strong experience with testing digital content against the success criteria outlined in WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) – specially version 2.2.
