As member of the Systems Engineering team in Optasia, you will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.

This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and Partners.

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of complex systems and networks for scalability, security, and performance.
• Take ownership of system architecture decisions, guiding long-term infrastructure strategy and roadmaps.
• Act as a technical authority during critical incidents: diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production issues under pressure.
• Drive automation across infrastructure to eliminate manual tasks and improve reliability.
• Establish and enforce system hardening, compliance standards, and security best practices (NIST, CIS, OWASP).
• Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Partner with stakeholders to align infrastructure capabilities with business requirements.
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies that enhance system performance and resilience.

What you will bring

• 7+ years of proven experience as a Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or similar senior-level role.
• BSc/MSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field will be considered a plus
• Deep expertise with Linux systems (performance tuning, security hardening, kernel-level troubleshooting).
• Strong experience with VMware virtualization (design, optimization, and troubleshooting at scale).
• Hands-on knowledge of automation tools (Ansible).
• Track record of building highly available and resilient infrastructures.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols, storage systems, and distributed architectures.
• Proficiency in incident management and root cause analysis of complex system failures.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience mentoring teams.
• Fluent English (both written and spoken).
