Tempus Insights is redefining investment due diligence by combining deep sector expertise, proprietary research panels, and innovative research technology to deliver best-in-class primary research for top-tier hedge funds, growth equity, and venture capital firms. We are building a more cost-effective, AI-powered research model to replace legacy diligence workflows.

Founded in 2023, Tempus is profitable and bootstrapped. Our founder, Sean Tanaka (Founder & Managing Partner), is a former Bain & Company Partner who led the Growth Equity & Hedge Fund Due Diligence practice, ran 100+ diligence engagements, and built and scaled specialized research teams across Enterprise Software and Consumer Internet.
The leadership team also includes Phoenix Liu (Partner) and Alex Nielsen (Head of Product).

Our team is small (6 total, including interns), distributed across the Bay Area and NYC, and growing deliberately.

Investment decisions worth billions of dollars still rely on slow, manual, and expensive research. Tempus is modernizing how investors access high-quality, rigorous insights—making diligence faster, cheaper, and deeper.

We currently have one engineer. This hire will be highly impactful, owning large parts of the product and working directly with leadership and product to shape the technical foundation of the company.

We’re looking for a strong Full Stack Engineer with experience in Python and Type Script to help build and scale our core research platform. You will work across backend systems, APIs, and user-facing applications, with real ownership from day one.

• Design, build, and maintain full stack features using Python and Type Script
• Develop scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines that support AI-powered research workflows
• Build clean, intuitive front-end experiences for internal teams and external clients
• Work closely with product, leadership, and end users to translate complex research needs into elegant technical solutions
• Make thoughtful architectural decisions and help set engineering best practices
• Take ownership of projects end-to-end, from concept to production

• Strong experience with Python and Type Script in production environments
• Full stack experience, including backend services and modern front-end frameworks
• Comfort working in an early-stage environment with high ownership and ambiguity
• Product-minded engineer who cares deeply about usability, performance, and quality
• Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with non-technical stakeholders
• High bar for rigor, reliability, and clean code

• Experience building data-intensive or AI-enabled products
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and deployment workflows
• Interest in fintech, investing, or research-driven products
