JOB DESCRIPTION

The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State is seeking a Dev Sec Ops  Integration & Support Engineer to join our San Diego office. In this role, you will support node deployment and management for the Depot Integrated Product Team (IPT), including interfacing directly with customers, continuous monitoring, remote patching, and baseline update deployment to maintain consistency of installs and preserve cybersecurity posture.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work directly with customers in a technical role.
  • Collaborate in planning with customers.
  • Produce technical documentation to support maintenance of HW/SW systems.
  • Deploy patches and baseline updates to remote sites.
  • Maintain and manage nodes remotely.
  • Continuous monitoring (ACAS or similar).
  • Structure and maintain databases.
  • Advanced service‑desk functions, trouble‑ticket fielding and resolution.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with implementation and understanding of engineering principles in a professional environment.
  • Deep understanding of HW/SW builds, IA hardening and lockdown.
  • Experience managing Red Hat/Linux systems, writing/maintaining custom scripts.
  • Experience configuring routers/switches (Dell OS10 experience is a plus) and dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF/BGP.
  • Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, Bash, Power Shell and Python.
  • Skilled in platform management (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, and micro‑services architecture).
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in maintaining, configuring, operating and troubleshooting complex electronic computer interface systems and network equipment.
  • CompTIA Security+ and OS/Computing Environment certification.
  • Strong understanding of security concepts, best practices and how to apply them, including Secure Shell, public key encryption, access credentials, certificates, TLS, and data encryption to include Department of Defense and Intelligence Community security policies/processes.
  • Experience with Agile management systems (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Git Lab).
  • Proficiency with standard computer‑based business tools (Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Ability to capture essential procedural instructions for tasks in a repeatable manner.
  • Top Secret Clearance.
PREFERRED
  • Experience with Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Experience with Dell Open Manage Enterprise/Redfish API.
  • Experience with distributed systems such as Hadoop, HBase/Accumulo, Spark, and Kafka.
TRAVEL & LOCATION

Employee will be required to travel in support of distant end installations or break‑fix actions if they cannot be accomplished remotely, generally less than 3 days’ notice and limited to short trips. Position requires onsite support in a classified environment located in San Diego, CA.

Remote work is supported only in limited capacity (short duration, NIPR) and with approval of the sponsor.
