Core Responsibilities

Data Modeling & Transformation

  • Design and maintain dbt models that transform raw data into trusted, analytics‑ready datasets.
  • Apply dimensional modeling (Kimball) to build optimized star schemas for reporting and self‑service analytics.
  • Implement testing frameworks (dbt tests, unit tests) to ensure data quality and reliability.

Data Integration & ELT

  • Develop and manage automated ELT pipelines in dbt and Snowflake.
  • Integrate new data sources (e.g., Service Now, SaaS platforms) and collaborate with data engineers to optimize workflows and orchestration.

Analytics Enablement

  • Build and maintain semantic layers in Power BI and Looker (LookML) for consistent KPIs and definitions.
  • Align data models with business objectives and optimize for performance and ease of use.

Engineering Best Practices

  • Use Git/Git Hub for version control and CI/CD tools (e.g., dbt Cloud, Git Hub Actions) for safe, automated deployments.
  • Monitor and optimize Snowflake performance, ensuring scalability and cost efficiency.
  • Apply observability practices (logging, query monitoring) to proactively detect and resolve issues.

Collaboration & Governance

  • Partner with analysts, data scientists, and business teams to deliver actionable insights.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly and promote data governance, documentation, and best practices.
  • Maintain security, access controls, and documentation across data models, pipelines, and BI platforms.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current with modern data stack tools and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and scalability.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related role.
  • Hands‑on expertise designing star schemas, fact tables, and conformed dimensions following Kimball best practices.
  • Proven hands‑on experience with dbt for ELT pipeline development.
  • Strong proficiency with Snowflake, including query optimization and performance tuning.
  • Demonstrated application of Kimball dimensional modeling and star schema design.
  • Experience designing semantic models in Power BI and/or Looker…
