The State of Ohio, in partnership with Kyndryl, is seeking an experienced Server Engineer/Administrator to manage and troubleshoot a large-scale enterprise server environment. The role focuses primarily on Windows Server, with opportunities to support Linux systems. The position requires expertise in virtualization, ITSM processes, and large enterprise infrastructure environments.

Contract

• Server Build & Configuration:
  Deploy, configure, and manage Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019, 2022, 2025) and optionally enterprise Linux distributions.
• Troubleshooting & Incident Management:
  Diagnose and resolve OS-level issues, performance bottlenecks, and system failures. Respond to ITSM-assigned incidents within defined SLAs.
• Virtualization Management:
  Provision, manage, and troubleshoot VMware vSphere environments (vCenter, ESXi, VM provisioning, resource management, vMotion).
• Process Adherence & Documentation:
  Follow technical procedures for server builds, changes, and decommissioning. Maintain detailed documentation and ticket records.
• Lifecycle Management:
  Participate in patching, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning of server hardware/software.
• Enterprise Tool Utilization:
  Use tools for server provisioning, monitoring, configuration management, patching, and backups (Big Fix/SCCM, SCOM/Netcool/Science Logic, IBM TSM, Cohesity).
• Collaboration:
  
  Work with networking, storage, security teams, application owners, and project managers.

• Experience:
  
  5+ years administering server OS in large enterprise environments (1000+ servers).
• Windows Server Expertise:
  Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPOs, IIS, security hardening.
• Troubleshooting:
  Root cause analysis and OS-level problem resolution; performance monitoring and log analysis.
• Virtualization: VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter), VM provisioning, resource management, vMotion.
• ITSM & Process Orientation:
  Experience with ITSM frameworks (ITIL) and enterprise ticketing systems (Service Now, Jira, BMC Remedy).
• Documentation:
  Strong technical writing and meticulous record-keeping.
• Communication:
  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Linux Administration:
  Enterprise distributions like RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu.
• Scripting/Automation:
  Power Shell, Bash, Python.
• Configuration Management Tools:
  Ansible, Puppet, Chef, SCCM.
• Cloud Platforms:
  Familiarity with Azure, AWS, hybrid cloud concepts.
• Storage & Networking: SAN/NAS, TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, load balancers.
• Certifications:
  
  MCSE, MCSA, VCP-DCV, Linux+, ITIL Foundation.

• Background Check:
  Infinite will conduct BGC and Drug Test;
  State will perform BCI and FBI checks (BCI can take up to 30 days).
