Firewall Architect

TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Firewall Architect for a 6 month contract to hire position with a very reputable organization!

Seeking a Firewall Architect to design, implement, and maintain advanced firewall solutions across enterprise and data center environments. This role will focus heavily on Palo Alto firewalls while supporting the integration of security solutions such as Zscaler and SD-WAN technologies (Silver Peak). The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in firewall architecture and large‑scale data center deployments.

• Architect, design, and implement firewall solutions with a primary focus on Palo Alto platforms.
• Support migration efforts from legacy technologies (ASA, ASR) to modern firewall solutions.
• Collaborate with security teams to integrate Zscaler into the network architecture, including deployment of Zscaler white boxes and end‑user application rollouts.
• Ensure seamless integration of firewall solutions with SD‑WAN technologies (Silver Peak).
• Manage and optimize firewall deployments across multiple environments, including Rackspace‑managed systems and Equinix data centers.
• Provide strategic guidance for firewall architecture as the organization transitions to larger colocation data centers.
• Document architecture designs, configurations, and integration processes for internal teams.

• Proven experience as a Firewall Architect with hands‑on design, implementation, and maintenance expertise.
• Strong proficiency with Palo Alto firewalls (required).
• Experience with legacy firewall technologies (ASA, ASR) and migration strategies.
• Familiarity with Zscaler architecture and deployment (highly preferred).
• Large‑scale data center experience, including colocation environments (Rackspace, Equinix).
• Knowledge of SD‑WAN solutions, particularly Silver Peak, and their integration with firewall systems.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work in complex, multi‑vendor environments.

• Experience with cloud‑based security integrations.
• Strong documentation and communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.

Expert Level

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orlando, FL.

The pay range for this position is $66.65 – $98.00/hr.
