We’re looking for an Assistant Web Development Manager to help oversee the day-to-day operations of the web development department. This role blends team coordination, project oversight, and hands‑on technical support, serving as a bridge between leadership and the development team. As an Assistant Web Development Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring projects are executed efficiently, mentoring developers, and contributing to process improvements that drive team success.
Key Responsibilities- Team Coordination & Leadership:
- Assist the Web Development Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations of the department.
- Mentor and support junior and mid-level developers, providing feedback and guidance on projects.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and succession planning to build and retain talent.
- Conduct performance evaluations in collaboration with the department manager.
- Project Oversight:
- Assist with project assignments, resource allocation, and workload balancing.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate scoping, planning, and execution of web projects.
- Oversee emergency production work, including troubleshooting critical issues when needed.
- Process & Operations:
- Help develop and improve department processes, workflows, and templates.
- Contribute to quarterly expense reporting, Basecamp template updates, and other operational initiatives.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment for the team.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Serve as a key point of contact between the web team, account managers, and other departments.
- Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders when necessary.
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in web development with a strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Proficiency in Webflow and/or Word Press, with experience managing complex projects.
- Proven ability to coordinate teams and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage deadlines effectively.
- Experience mentoring or supporting the growth of junior and mid-level developers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and clients.
Preferred:
- Experience with Shopify and familiarity with front‑end frameworks like React or Node.js.
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience using project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, Asana).
- Experience implementing QA processes and contributing to technical standards.
- Helping the Web Development Manager ensure smooth department operations and project delivery.
- Supporting team growth through mentorship and performance feedback.
- Improving processes and workflows that increase efficiency and quality.
- Acting as a reliable, approachable leader who empowers developers to perform at their best.
