This opportunity resides with Uncrewed Systems (UxS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Uncrewed Systems comprises unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) and autonomy software.

This position requires knowledge and experience with software engineering.

• Work within HII engineering team (hardware and software) to support development of HII software products
• Full life cycle support beginning with initial customer proposal, definition and management of requirements, test planning and coordination, through to final acceptance testing, analysis and reporting.
• Define, develop, manage and verify software requirements using industry standards including System Requirements Verification Matrices.
• Develop a simulation environment to exercise software, develop automated reports and track defects.
• Support development of a software in the loop and hardware in the loop test environment
• Assists Program/Project Manager and Systems Engineer in tracking all test issues/deficiencies to closure, including traceability to system requirements.
• Provides documentation support for quality, manufacturing, test and training of software products.
• Estimates labor and cost of materials for project and process support.

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls;

prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

• 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
• Experience with model based testing
• Experience in the progression of software, processor, hardware in the loop testing for a product
• Must have secret clearance #LI-MH1

• Experience with defense systems, including autonomous vehicles, robotics, naval systems
